Mark tells THE (Real Ruler's) "Good-News". Chapter 6 [Pericope 33 & 34]

Pericope 33a - Mk 6:6b-13 - The cancer of "un-faith" (in the story before) galvanizes decisive multiplied action to see that faith is caught by clear communication & close contact. The New Isra'el (Warrior-Leader) of the People of God sends out his 12 sons/ ambassadors/ tribal leader/servants.

And he was going 'round the villages
a-teaching; & he calls to him the twelve,
and he began to send them out in pairs,
and he gave them authority for health

of mind and body, motive, attitude;
that's over unclean spirits in the land.
And he instructed them, that his men who'd

come all this way with him, should go - as planned:

“Take nothing for the journey, just a staff,
no bread, no bag, no money in your belts,
and wear your sandals, but no extra stuff,
like coats, or cloaks, or tunics. As for shelt-

er”, He'd go on and say to them: “where-ev-
er you enter a house, stay there until
you leave that place. And any place what-ev-
er, which won't welcome you, nor listen, will

have you departing from there shaking off
it's dust from under-foot to bear witness
to them of your allegiance, not to soft
beds, living for your comfort; your own test

and passing through it, growing up, will show
the presence of a great authority.
And they can tell if you think that you know.
Such actions bear their message: urgency,

responsibility (for what they do
or do not listen to) to weigh up well.
These days are evil. If God did eschew
folk who would ruin Earth, they'd have their "hell"

to pay, and when their debts are all called in..
and each community must give account
of what it's done with all it's been given,
your "moving right along" is paramount.

And having gone out, they then heralded
that people should change their allegiances.
And many demons (lost their peril/dread
as they) were cast aside. That’s what it says!

And many sick folk too were healed by them,
as they anointed* them with oil (of joy,
their method a reminder of back when
a house of God, or leader**, girl or boy,

was picked out and sent off to do a task,
and even when the altar's set apart,
a special oil anointed it to bask
within God’s presence, God ordained such art!

And further too, this stronga anointedb “son”c
who comes to set God’s people free from foesd
sends out these 12 new leaders over-run-
ing slavers in each town where each pair goes.

Pericope 34 - Mk 6:14-29 How (the Roman authorised Tetrarch) “King Herod” [presumably the head of the Herodians whom we've already met within the story making plans with the Pharisees to “get rid of” Jesus (Mk 3:6)] received positively, but was ultimately powerless to protect, God's messenger who was sent to prepare the way for "the Lord".

14And in the course of things King Herod heard
about him for his name became well known.
And they connected Jesus with John's word,
and said "These miracles are clearly shown

by John the Washer (now ramped up, a lot)
and so he must have been "raised from the dead"
for all the pow'rs of God we've seen he's got.."
or something like this, was what people said.

15However others were at that time say-
ing: "He's - Elijah!"; while some others said
"...a prophet in the ancient prophet's way."
16But having heard, and knowing John was dead,

ol' Herod's saying "This is John,” though he’s
“whom I beheaded, he is risen.” ’Cos
17this Herod having sent out, had John seized
and bound in prison, for Herodias

his brother Philip’s wife, he’d married now...
While Herod claimed to be a Jewish Law-
Enforcer, John must think that meant somehow
that he must be accountable and more...

18and so to Herod, John had often said
“It is not lawful (in our Jewish sense)
for you to have your brother’s wife” to wed.
19Herodias however was incensed

held this against him, and she wished him dead
though (for a while) she could not get her way,
20for Herod held this John in awe and fed
and housed him in his prison, kept him safe,

because he knew him as a righteous man,
with holy words which he liked well to hear
but still which left him puzzled. Thus he planned
to keep the peace, but peace would not stay near.

21The day of opportunity did come,
when Herod’s birthday banquet had invite-
ed Leading men, the greatest ones, and some
of Rome’s Commanders/Captains to the site

in Galilee, where Herod “ruled the roost”.
22Herodias’s daughter, having come
had danced & pleased both Herod & those who
shared meal with him, the king had not been dumb

but said to her in generosity,
appreciation, and provisioning grace,
a kind of godly "magnanimity";
“Whatever wish is yours.. ask to my face

and I will give it to you. Be assured!
23And then he added to his offer bold,
a repetition, and on top he swore,
and added “up to half my reign, to hold”!

24 And having gone out, she said to her mum,
his wife, “What shall I ask for?” So, said she
The head of John the Washing one must come!
25so having straightaway returned quickly,

before the king she made request anon:
“My wish is that at once you give to me
upon a platter here the head of John
The Washer.” 26Well, the king heard sorrowf’lly,

and deeply grieved, but on account of all
his oaths and those who shared with him his meal,
he was unwilling to refuse her call.
27So straightaway the king, to keep his deal,

sent off a body guard commanded to
then bring his head. So off he went and in
the prison, he beheaded him who’d do
the job of making straight a way from sin,

and into God’s own presence, so John “flew”.
The guard 28then brought the head upon a plat-
-ter, gave it to the girl, who gave it to
her mother. 29His disciples heard this mat-

-ter, and they came as body-guards quite true,
and took his body from that prison thar,
gave it a proper burial, en-tombed.
How does this bode for our main character?
