Intro to Setting (Historical/ Political/ Circumstantial)   Version 8.2

Long version (all 20 verses); short version (only what is highlighted this colour, 12 verses):

-20    The other side of Earth, right through the globe

from here (where we live in this Great South Land),

a figure once emerged; grew up and strode

through life with high distinctions - and demand!

-19    Distinctive thing about this world for him,

is that it's made by One who loves, and we,

reflect this One together, bright or dim-

ly, & with high or low fidelity.

-18    His take on all the discipline and rules

was: Value only comes to them from Love.

- and not just words (ubiquitous in schools).

Love's actions don't just act as stronger shoves.

-17    The spirit of all creativity

has made this world, so folk like (you and) me

could live, & learn to love here, to be free

to partner, not from force, but lovingly..

-16    It works, to say "We're made to love" by God.

That's "made" but not as bricks without consent.

We're made to choose, he's given shoes, we're shod

with news that all undos that way and "bent".

-15    As THE creative fount and source of love;

God's “rule” is quite unlike most human's rule.

Unless you've tasted this rule "from above",

you're apt to think you're taken for a fool.

-14    This story is the glory of that One.

It happened on this Earth not long ago.

Our year today bears witness to this son

of true humanity. Here's what we know:

-13    In Middle-East, in Palestine, about

2000 years ago - not long at all -

and when technology of Rome could shout

that its new strength was what now made the call,

-12    by roads, and bridges, iron (swords, & nails..);

with crucifying fear, it made, & shoved!

(From God a diff’rent way comes, which prevails..

..as children learn from parents - 'coz they’re loved!).

-11    God uses “invitations” ‘coz God loves -

and made all this for wonder & delight.

Yet other motivations, using “shoves”,

intimidatingly claim "Might is right!"

-10    Rome’s take on languages was "Just translate!"

and lego like, then fit them into place.

Its pow'r could make the people motivate-

-ed, and this way “enable” folk to  face

-09    the troubles here encountered in this world.

Though Latin as the language of the boss

was winner of the flag that was unfurled

as powerful one - & there were ones who lost -

-08    our story happens in this "Empire" where

when people want to get on the same page,

they'd speak in Greek, the tongue of daily care;

though Rome had won, since Greeks (forgot to wage/lost their engage-

-07    their wars united, when they broke apart

'coz all their true community had gone.

They fought between themselves. Made it an art!

But Rome came in as ONE, so soon they shone!

-06    (And/ ment.) Isræl's Jewish state was "occupied"

- by Rome, who then allowed them to retain

their own "religion", if they'd still abide

by Roman rules, pay tax, and bear their shame.

-05    Yet villagers spoke Aramaic still,

the language of the ruling “Empire” from

before the Greeks took over. So they will

use bits of all those languages in song.

-04    Within a hundred years Pap-i-as wrote

that "Mark, as Pete’s interpreter, wrote down

as many things as he recalled (of note)”,

which he had helped ol’ Pete bear witness ’round.

-03    With MARK's old story from the very "First" )

comparing versions, looking at parsed Greek,

on Internet, we've come with best & worst

of Spoken Word you prob'ly heard this week!

-02    We haven’t done "the best", we know that’s true,..

but we are hoping something catches on.

This store of stories re-imagines you -

so let this store re-form you to belong.

-01    And let this marriage of "Good Myth", and "Fact"

wake up creative mem'ries and much more…

to work with what you see, think, speak, and act,

im-aj-in this Earth, as God looked & saw.
